About the position

The CT Technician will perform complex tasks associated with the operation of high radiation producing equipment to produce high quality CT images. The technologist is responsible for maintaining a safe CT environment at all times. This position is full-time, requiring 72 hours per pay period on the night shift, specifically Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 7 PM to 7:30 AM. A $25K sign-on bonus is available for experienced candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Performs procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation or therapeutic intervention.
  • Selects and operates the computed tomography system, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
  • Evaluates CT scans for technical quality, post processing, completes CT exams in electronic medical record and sends to PACS.
  • Adjusts protocols and dose as appropriate to maintain established Dose Reference Levels per ACR and AAPM guidelines.
  • Identifies and screens patient and others according to CT guidelines for safety.
  • Obtains patient history, completes and verifies accurate consents, informed consent and/or permits as needed.
  • Provides patient instructions/education to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
  • Positions patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with regulations.
  • Identifies, prepares and/or administers medications as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Performs venipuncture for contrast media administration as ordered/per test design as necessary.
  • Assists radiologist with CT procedures (biopsies, etc.) and assures time outs are performed.
  • Coordinates scheduling and patient flow, proficient in clerical skills, and assists in inventory control.
  • Educates, trains, orients and assists new staff members and provides education for student technologists.
  • Stays current in Basic Life Support (BLS) and performs BLS as needed.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards, completing required education assignments annually.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have successfully completed an educational program that is accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT.
  • Must have and maintain one of the following: ARRT (R) and within 1 year ARRT (CT) required; or NMTCB and within one year ARRT (CT) required; or ARDMS and within one year ARRT (CT) required.
