About the position

The CT Technologist position at Duke Regional Hospital involves performing specialized tasks related to CT scans, ensuring patient safety, and assisting radiologists with imaging procedures. This role is integral to providing high-quality imaging services and requires a commitment to compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment.
  • Position patients for CT scans using appropriate devices and protective equipment.
  • Perform exams accurately per established protocols and patient safety standards.
  • Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, including starting IVs and injecting contrast.
  • Evaluate CT scans for technical quality and collate processed images appropriately.
  • Schedule patients for procedures and assist with clerical functions.
  • Charge procedures and supplies in the EHR system.
  • Dispense and order oral contrast for patients as needed.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and provide orientation to new CT technologists.
  • Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families.
  • Assist with the education and training of student technologists and new physicians.
  • Coordinate scheduling and patient flow.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration.
  • Assist radiologists in developing new protocols and imaging techniques.

Requirements

  • Graduate or completion of a program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.
  • Level I must obtain ARRT certification within 18 months of employment.
  • Level II requires a minimum of two years' experience as a CT technologist.
  • Level III requires a minimum of 4 years' experience within the specialty modality.
