About the position
The CT Technologist II position at Houston Methodist is responsible for performing a variety of routine to complex diagnostic CT procedures, including both common and special exams. This role is integral to the direct patient care team, requiring full competency in computed tomography scanning. The technologist serves as a mentor to junior staff and students, demonstrating sound judgment and clinical skills in challenging situations while ensuring optimal patient safety and care.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic radiology procedures including common and special CT exams.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic or special CT procedures, ensuring sterile techniques are followed.
- Mentor and guide CT Technologist I and students to enhance their skills and confidence.
- Communicate effectively with patients and family members, providing clear explanations and instructions.
- Assess and respond to patient needs to optimize care and image quality.
- Follow safety standards and radiation safety protocols during imaging procedures.
- Document patient procedures accurately and enter charges at the time of service.
- Participate in department initiatives and special projects for continual development.
Requirements
- Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for required credentials.
- Three years of experience as a CT Technologist.
- ARRT-R, ARRT-THR, CNMT, ARRT-CT, CMRT, or CMRT-Temp certification required.
- BLS certification from AHA.
