About the position

The CT Technologist position at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center involves performing diagnostic imaging procedures using computed tomography (CT) technology. The role requires flexibility in work hours, a strong commitment to patient care, and the ability to operate imaging equipment safely and effectively. The technologist is responsible for ensuring high-quality imaging while maintaining patient comfort and safety, as well as adhering to departmental protocols and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate ability to adjust technique for optimal image quality and minimal radiation exposure.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor or service provider.
  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain imaging equipment according to infection control policies.
  • Verify clinician orders and obtain complete clinical history from patients.
  • Administer contrast media following established procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Review CT images for clinical acceptability and release patients after procedures.
  • Respond to emergency situations and maintain life support equipment.
  • Assist other technologists in various modalities as needed.
  • Observe patient conditions and evaluate for necessary physician intervention.
  • Ensure proper patient identification using two unique identifiers before procedures.
  • Maintain patient privacy and dignity throughout exams.
  • Demonstrate competence in age-appropriate procedures and techniques.
  • Organize schedule and prioritize tasks to meet time frames.
  • Follow physician instructions during procedures and exams.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with power injection and venipuncture.
  • Explain exam purpose and nature to patients to minimize anxiety.
  • Participate in training and orientation of new departmental employees.
  • Ensure concise and legible documentation of required information.
  • Check and ensure equipment is operational before use and send studies to PACS immediately after completion.
  • Restock linens and supplies, and maintain a clean department environment.
  • Transport and position patients for procedures, assisting them on and off the procedure table.

Requirements

  • Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiology Technology.
  • ARRT Radiography certification required upon hire.
  • ARRT Computed Tomography certification required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Radiology required; less than 1 year experience in CT preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with physicians, patients, and staff.
  • Ability to function independently and under pressure in a team environment.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with capacity to multitask throughout the work shift.
  • Competence in all aspects of CT, patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection.
