About the position

The CT Technologist PRN or Relief position at AdventHealth South Overland Park involves performing CAT Scan procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. This role requires independent judgment and technical expertise to acquire diagnostic images, while maintaining a clean and well-stocked work environment. The position offers flexible scheduling options and is integral to providing high-quality patient care in a state-of-the-art medical facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CAT Scan procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.
  • Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies in the CAT Scan room.
  • Review scheduled patient requisitions and charts before starting exams.
  • Administer opaque contrast material as directed by the Radiologist.
  • Start IVs on outpatients requiring IV contrast.
  • Draw labs for Creatine to expedite patient care when possible.
  • Communicate with nurses and physicians to expedite patient care.
  • Locate orders, lab work, allergies, and other related resources in Power Chart.
  • Send images to VRC in a timely manner and scan VRC reports into PACS.
  • Administer oral contrast to patients scheduled for abdomen and pelvis CAT Scans prior to exams.
  • Participate in the training of new CT technologists.
  • Operate the Cerner System proficiently and troubleshoot order issues.
  • Complete and charge exams correctly on the Cerner System.
  • Send all exams to the PACS System and know procedures if PACS is down.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Follow hospital policy and Standard of Behavior guidelines.
  • Incorporate patient, physician, and customer needs into decision-making.
  • Follow the AIDET model for personalized patient care.
  • Maintain ethical relationships and cooperate with all personnel in the department.
  • Demonstrate commitment to personal and professional development through continuing education.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with dress code standards.
  • Attend a minimum of 50% of scheduled department meetings and obtain information from missed meetings.
  • Provide patient transportation when needed and perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or Graduate of a Technical School.
  • Kansas State License LRT.
  • Nationally Registered ARRT.
  • ARRT Registered CT Technologist.
  • AHA Healthcare Provider CPR.
