About the position

The CT Technologist position involves performing computerized tomography (CT) examinations of patients as requested by referring physicians. The role requires direct interaction with patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding of the procedure while maintaining high standards of imaging quality and safety. The technologist is responsible for preparing patients, operating CT equipment, and maintaining accurate records of examinations.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patient and confirms image to be taken.
  • Explains procedure to patient and addresses their anxiety.
  • Reviews patient's medical history and confirms consent for contrast media.
  • Positions patient on examination table and monitors their condition during examination.
  • Introduces intravenous contrast material as directed by radiologist.
  • Controls and adjusts CT equipment to ensure images meet requirements.
  • Maintains equipment and examination room, stores film, and keeps inventory of supplies.
  • Prepares patient information files and submits reports on examinations.
  • Performs other related duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a CT Technologist or registry eligible ARRT advanced certification in CT required.
  • One (1) year recent experience as a Radiologic Technologist with ARRT required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate of a certified/accredited ARRT program required.
  • Specialized training in computerized tomography required.
  • Radiologic Technologist License (Virginia) required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Computed Tomography within 12 months of hire required.
  • Current on CEUs with ARRT required.
  • Venipuncture competency checks off or must acquire within three (3) months of hire.
