About the position

The Patient & Family Concierge at UPMC Presbyterian is a non-clinical support role focused on providing compassionate service and support to patients, families, and visitors during their hospital stay. The Concierge is responsible for ensuring a high-quality experience by assisting with various tasks such as patient transport, meal delivery, and maintaining a clean environment. This role emphasizes patient satisfaction and quality of care, making it essential for creating a welcoming atmosphere in the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families warmly, providing direction and escort assistance to ensure they reach their destination.
• Inspects and ensures assigned areas are clean and in good repair, reporting maintenance issues to a supervisor.
• Delivers and sets up patient meal trays, ensuring proper patient identification and following safety regulations.
• Escorts patients to discharge lounge or main entrance as appropriate.
• Organizes supply room and delivers supplies and equipment to patient units safely and accurately.
• Answers unit phones and transfers calls to appropriate staff, responding to call lights under Nursing Assistant/PCT direction.
• Interacts with patients to assess their needs and rounds hourly to ensure responsibilities are met satisfactorily.
• Maintains resources like pamphlets and department contacts, adhering to hand hygiene and infection control procedures.

Requirements

• High School diploma or active High School/GED program enrollment or one year of previous job experience in lieu of HS Diploma/GED.
• Desire, drive, and compassion to provide an exceptional patient and family experience.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Previous experience in health care or customer service is a plus, but not required.
• 6 months of experience required for the senior title.
