About the position

The position involves providing competent and proficient technical skills in the performance of emergency and routine CT procedures, implementing procedural standards and protocols. The role requires the ability to access veins for contrast injections, recognize contraindications and adverse reactions to contrast, and identify normal and abnormal pathologies. Familiarity with cross-sectional anatomy and competence in operating various equipment is essential. The position also requires the ability to function without supervision, rotate shifts, participate in on-call rotations, and assist radiologists with invasive procedures while performing clerical duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide competent, proficient technical skills in the performance of emergency and routine CT procedures.
  • Access a vein for the purpose of injecting contrast.
  • Recognize contraindications and adverse reactions to oral IV contrast.
  • Recognize abnormal/normal pathologies and apply the proper protocol.
  • Demonstrate competence in the operation of equipment (laser, scanner, injector, processor, crash cart) and report equipment problems.
  • Function without supervision.
  • Rotate shifts when necessary.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency call-in within 45 minutes.
  • Rotate holiday coverage.
  • Assist Radiologist with all invasive procedures and perform clerical duties as required.
  • Provide patient care specific to procedural requirements and patients' needs.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in all areas including computer, patient charts, and patient communications.
  • Transport patients when Patient Escort services are not available.
  • Participate in documentation of CQI/QA and ACR statistics.
  • Participate in properly stocking rooms, checking and ordering of supplies.
  • Document patients histories and records as required.
  • Comply with established hospital safety standards to ensure patient and staff well being.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the organization by supporting and adapting to changes consistent with operating goals.
  • Provide training assistance to new associates and radiology tech students.

Requirements

  • 1 year Radiology tech experience.
  • Graduate of approved Radiology Technology Program.
  • Certification in CT.
  • Familiarity with CT keyboard and all CT equipment.
  • ARRT, IEMA, CPR, CT Certification.
