About the position

As a CT Technologist at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality imaging services under the direction of a Radiologist. This position involves performing CAT Scan procedures at a technical level that does not require constant supervision. You will be responsible for executing a variety of technical procedures that necessitate independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to acquire accurate Cat Scan images for radiological diagnosis. Your role will also include maintaining a clean and well-stocked room to ensure efficient operations during CAT Scan procedures. In this position, you will be expected to maintain all essential job functions of a CT Technologist, including rotating on-call status, reviewing scheduled patient requisitions and charts before starting exams, and administering opaque contrast material as directed by the Radiologist. You will also be responsible for starting IVs on outpatients requiring IV contrast, drawing labs for Creatine to expedite patient care, and communicating effectively with nurses and physicians to enhance patient care. You will utilize the Cerner System proficiently, troubleshoot problems with orders, and ensure that all exams are completed and charged correctly. Additionally, you will send all exams to the PACS System and know the procedures to follow if PACS is down. Adhering to radiation safety standards and maintaining ethical relationships with all personnel is essential. You will also be expected to demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional development by pursuing appropriate continuing education and attending department meetings regularly. Your professional appearance must align with the dress code standards, and you may be required to provide patient transportation when needed, along with performing other related duties as assigned by the Radiology Director or Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CAT Scan procedures under the direction of a Radiologist.
  • Maintain a clean and stocked room for CAT Scan procedures.
  • Review scheduled patient requisitions and charts before starting exams.
  • Administer opaque contrast material as directed by the Radiologist.
  • Start IVs on outpatients requiring IV contrast.
  • Draw labs for Creatine to expedite patient care.
  • Communicate with nurses and physicians to expedite patient care.
  • Locate orders, lab work, allergies, and other related resources in Power Chart.
  • Send images to VRC in a timely manner and scan VRC reports into PACS.
  • Give oral contrast to abdomen and pelvis CAT Scan patients prior to exams.
  • Participate in the training of new CT techs.
  • Operate the Cerner System proficiently and troubleshoot problems with orders.
  • Complete and charge exams correctly on the Cerner System.
  • Send all exams to the PACS System and know procedures if PACS is down.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Follow hospital policy and Standard of Behavior guidelines.
  • Incorporate patient, physician, and customer needs into decision-making.
  • Follow the AIDET model for personalized patient care.
  • Maintain ethical relationships and cooperate with all personnel.
  • Demonstrate commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Attend a minimum of 50% of scheduled department meetings.
  • Provide patient transportation when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or Graduate of a Technical School.
  • Kansas State License LRT.
  • Nationally Registered ARRT.
  • ARRT Registered CT Technologist.
  • AHA Healthcare Provider CPR.
