About the position

The Care Team Associate (CTA) position involves providing essential patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role is critical in monitoring patients' health status, implementing care plans, and assisting with various medical procedures. The CTA will work in a float pool setting, which requires flexibility to work day and night shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Systematically and continually monitor the patient's health status and implement the plan of care under the supervision of the RN.
  • Carry out physician and nursing orders as directed by the RN.
  • Take and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and weight.
  • Perform blood glucose monitoring and monitor intravenous infusions and transfusions as directed by the RN.
  • Set up and discontinue telemetry monitors, collect specimens, and apply sterile dressings.
  • Perform stomal irrigation and apply colostomy pouches, as well as oral and tracheostomy suctioning.
  • Administer tube feedings to patients and take emergency actions as required.
  • Report symptoms and significant changes in the patient's condition or behavior to the RN.
  • Assist with the admission, discharge, and transfer process of patients.
  • Transport patients to and from various treatment centers and assist transporters in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the patient's room, including making beds and replacing soiled linen.
  • Restock rooms with supplies and equipment as directed.

Requirements

  • Six months of experience in a healthcare setting or completion of a health-related vocational education course of at least three months.
  • Completion of the first semester of clinical education in an associate or bachelor's degree program from a non-nursing health care discipline.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association upon hire.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures.
