About the position

The CTE Career Pathway Coach is a vital role within the Career and Technical Education Division at Great Falls College Montana State University. This position is primarily focused on assisting current Career and Technical Education (CTE) students in their academic, career, and personal growth opportunities. The success of the CTE Career Pathway Coach hinges on the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty and administration at Great Falls College, as well as with local public schools and both current and prospective CTE students. This role is grant-funded and is set to conclude on June 27, 2025, with no guarantee of employment beyond this date. The CTE Career Pathway Coach will be responsible for maintaining a strong presence in the local school districts, collaborating with these districts and Great Falls College to ensure that services provided to students and families are aligned. The coach will serve as a liaison between public schools, Great Falls College, and community service agencies, providing essential information about integrated education and training services. Additionally, the coach will work collaboratively with instructors, local high schools, advising, and student services to promote the importance of secondary education and assist students in preparing for college. Key responsibilities include helping students identify their career paths by setting goals, administering interest inventories and skill assessments, and developing career portfolios. The coach will also create transition materials and resources to assist students in achieving their educational and career goals, connect them to appropriate support services, and track their academic, career, and personal growth. Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to FERPA guidelines regarding student records is also a critical aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop a strong secondary presence in school districts in the Great Falls area.
  • Collaborate with local school districts and Great Falls College to ensure alignment of services provided to students and families.
  • Serve as a liaison between public schools, Great Falls College, and community service agencies to provide information about integrated education and training services.
  • Work collaboratively as a team member with instructors, local high schools, advising, and student services.
  • Provide early outreach about the importance of secondary education, as well as accurate information on how to prepare, and pay for college.
  • Assist students in identifying a career by setting goals, administering interest inventories and skill assessments, and developing career portfolios.
  • Develop transition materials and resources to assist students with obtaining their educational and/or career goals.
  • Connect students to appropriate support services to enhance their opportunity to succeed and complete their programs of study.
  • Serve as a role model for students by demonstrating personal and intellectual honesty and respecting others.
  • Track each CTE student's academic, career, and personal growth by working collaboratively with instructional staff.
  • Develop a tracking system for student meetings according to standards set by the division director.
  • Maintain confidentiality and work within FERPA guidelines in regard to student records.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree combined with qualified experience.
  • Experience working in a post-secondary educational setting or an education related field.
  • Knowledge of the typical problems encountered by students in selecting a course of study and in successfully preparing a plan of study to guide them to graduation.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well with a wide range of student populations, including students of different ages, abilities, interests, backgrounds, and needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
