About the position

The CTE Curriculum Instructional Management Coordinator (CIMC) plays a crucial role in supporting career readiness and instructional excellence for middle and high school students. This position collaborates with various stakeholders, including educators, parents, and industry partners, to deliver comprehensive career development services that align with state and national standards. The CIMC assists CTE teachers with curriculum implementation, resource access, and instructional support, ultimately enhancing student outcomes for high-wage, high-skill, or high-demand careers. Additionally, the role involves analyzing student data to inform teaching strategies and coordinating community partnership events to enrich career education, ensuring students are well-prepared for successful transitions to postsecondary education and the workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in locating appropriate instructional management resources such as blueprints, curriculum guides, equipment lists, pacing guides, facility guides, and vendor-generated curriculum resources.
  • Provide technical assistance in analyzing performance data to improve instruction and student outcomes.
  • Encourage and support the improvement of instruction through current knowledge of curriculum development and instructional strategies.
  • Provide technical assistance and support for teachers in understanding and implementing the CTE computerized instructional management system.
  • Evaluate instructional practices and provide coaching support for student and teacher growth.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the Standard Course of Study, 21st Century Skills, and current state and local Graduation Requirements.
  • Assist with school redesign initiatives and the application and development process of a Local Course Option (LCO).
  • Maintain a current knowledge base of Career and Technical Education latest trends, developments, and research.
  • Implement and execute career pathways and work-based learning opportunities following the RSS Career Development Continuum.
  • Act as middle school and Paxton-Patterson career exploration lab liaison.
  • Facilitate the process of current state and local articulation through collaboration with community colleges and other postsecondary programs.
  • Identify concentrators and corresponding Career Pathways.
  • Facilitate CTE Summer career exploration opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing, high-quality, sustained, classroom-focused professional development that positively impacts classroom instruction and teacher performance.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Director of CTE to plan professional development for improvement strategies addressed in the district strategic plan.
  • Plan professional development based on information gained from regional, state, and national conferences/meetings.
  • Provide training for teachers in the CTE computerized instructional management system.
  • Assist in coordinating the administration of high school CTE State Assessments.
  • Understand the CTE Statewide Assessment Manual, the North Carolina Testing Code of Ethics, and the importance of securing state assessments.
  • Generate, analyze, and report state assessment data to improve the instructional process and student learning.
  • Assist in facilitating the process of reporting credentials and maintaining student information confidentiality and security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and current license in any CTE program area or a bachelor's degree and current license in Curriculum Instructional Specialist, Instructional Technology Specialist, or School Administration.
  • Five years of successful experience within the past eight years in an educational setting, such as Career Development Coordinator, Special Populations Coordinator, Curriculum Specialist, Instructional Technology Specialist, or Instructional Design Coach.
  • Successful completion of NC DPI-sponsored CIMC 40-Hour Induction Program.
  • Successful completion of Foundations of Coaching course or approved equivalent.
  • Five years of successful related work experience within the past eight years.
