About the position

The CTE Teacher for Medical Assisting at Educational Service District 112 is a part-time role focused on providing hybrid instruction in Career Technical Education (CTE) to high school students across multiple districts. This position aims to prepare students for a career as a Medical Assistant through a grant-funded Medical Assisting Apprenticeship Prep course. The teacher will deliver instruction on necessary skills for certification and supervise practicum components, fostering a diverse and skilled workforce in the medical field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction on skills needed to obtain certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • Supervise the practicum component of the coursework.
  • Utilize culturally responsive and asset-based teaching methods to manage student behavior and eliminate opportunity gaps.
  • Facilitate active learning through planning, preparation, and the use of technology in a blended/online learning environment.
  • Prepare and communicate course objectives and learning activities clearly, following state and industry guidelines.
  • Collaborate with students, colleagues, and parents to communicate student progress and needs.
  • Support the CTE director/coordinator in maintaining course and program requirements.
  • Participate in faculty and professional development, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with district schools and business partners for work-based learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education with appropriate CTE Certification or 2,000 hours of industry-related experience and ability to obtain CTE certification.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an industry-related field with 6,000 hours of documented industry experience.
  • Five years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Experience using ZOOM, Canvas, Google Classroom, and other learning management systems in a virtual classroom setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a Registered Medical Assistant program or other Healthcare Registered Apprenticeship.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or training in current techniques and skills in teaching secondary level students.
  • Teaching experience in a rural school; teaching experience with high school students.
