Loyola University Chicago seeks applications for the position of Assistant University Archivist for the Loyola University Chicago Archives and Special Collections, based at Cudahy Library. The Assistant University Archivist supports the University Archivist in managing the Loyola University Chicago Archives and Special Collections (LUCASC) department. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including providing research assistance to researchers, supporting class sessions, collaborating with student staff and interns, processing collections, promoting the department through social media and the creation of exhibits, and working on various departmental projects and initiatives. The successful candidate should show evidence of creativity, initiative, flexibility, dedication to diversity, and ability to work with diverse populations. This is an open-rank library faculty appointment. At Loyola, Librarian is a special faculty designation with opportunities for promotion. The Loyola University Chicago Archives and Special Collections is a highly valued partner in teaching, research, and learning at the University. A full-time staff of two archivists serves researchers from the Loyola community and the public. Archives staff are dedicated to documenting the goals, objectives, and programs of Loyola University Chicago. Additionally, archivists are responsible for the collections in Chicago history, Catholic history, entertainment history, U.S. Congressional papers, business history, political cartoons, and rare books that form the core of Special Collections.
