About the position

The Culinary Attendant position at Westminster Village is a full-time role focused on providing high-quality food service in a clean and sanitary environment. The role involves supporting cooks and creating memorable dining experiences for residents, guests, and team members. The ideal candidate should have a passion for food, attention to detail, and a commitment to hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and serve food and supplements for residents, special events, team members, and guests.
  • Prepare simple food items.
  • Portion and set up individual servings of food, ensuring consistency with census and standardized recipes.
  • Ensure proper food handling practices and adherence to Illinois Department of Public Health Regulations.
  • Take menu orders and serve food efficiently and courteously to diners.
  • Check outgoing plates for menu conformity and neatness.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen, pantries, and dining areas.
  • Perform dishwashing tasks and ensure sanitary conditions for dishes, flatware, pots, pans, and serving utensils.
  • Clean counters, food preparation areas, serving carts, and dining tables.
  • Follow all sanitary and safety precautions, including familiarity with firefighting equipment, alarms, and disaster procedures.
  • Interact cooperatively with all team members to meet resident service needs.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members, demonstrating patience, understanding, and tact.
  • Attend educational meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Assist cooks and perform the duties of a Dishwasher as needed.
  • Set up guest tables and special event settings.
  • Maintain necessary meal records and complete guest meal slips accurately.
  • Bussing and cleaning dining room tables after each meal.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Previous food service experience preferred.
  • Some knowledge of special diets and tray line assembly is desired.
