About the position

The Cultivation Technician I position at Gold Flora is a vital role in the cultivation and care of plants from seed to harvest. This full-time position is based in Desert Hot Springs, CA, and offers a pay range of $18 to $20 per hour. The technician will be responsible for ensuring the overall efficiency of cultivation operations, executing various cultivation tasks with precision throughout the growth cycle, and maintaining the health and vitality of the plants. A clean and organized cultivation environment is essential, and the technician will be expected to adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines. Daily responsibilities include the care and maintenance of plants, which encompasses watering, feeding, pruning, and transplanting according to established protocols. The technician will monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and light levels, and assist in applying nutrients, fertilizers, and pest management solutions as directed by senior staff. Accurate record-keeping of cultivation activities, plant inventory, and environmental conditions is crucial to comply with regulatory requirements. Collaboration with team members to achieve production targets and quality standards is also a key aspect of the role. The work environment is primarily indoors, where technicians may be exposed to various environmental conditions associated with plant cultivation, including elevated temperatures, high humidity, and artificial lighting. The use of fertilizers and pest management solutions may expose technicians to chemicals, making adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), essential. The role requires physical stamina, as technicians will need to climb ladders, stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods, and must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily care and maintenance of plants including watering, feeding, pruning, and transplanting plants according to established protocols.
  • Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and light levels.
  • Assist in the application of nutrients, fertilizers, and pest management solutions as directed by senior staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of cultivation activities, plant inventory, and environmental conditions in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines for all cultivation activities.
  • Collaborate with cultivation team members to achieve production targets and quality standards.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Cultivation Technician I), Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or related field preferred (Cultivation Technician II and III).
  • Previous experience in horticulture, agriculture, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of plant biology, cultivation techniques, and pest management preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in horticulture or agriculture is preferred.
  • Knowledge of pest management techniques is a plus.
