The Door Guard position at Curacao Lynwood is a critical role focused on maintaining security and preventing theft at designated store entrances. The individual in this position is responsible for enforcing company policies and ensuring a safe environment for both customers and employees. This includes using various security techniques and equipment to monitor activities at the entrances, assisting customers with basic inquiries, and reporting any suspicious activities to Loss Prevention management. The Door Guard is expected to physically stand at designated entrances, providing a visible security presence while also delivering excellent customer service. This role requires a proactive approach to security, as well as the ability to respond effectively during emergencies and assist store management during opening and closing procedures. The position demands a high level of vigilance and the ability to interact positively with customers, ensuring that all entrance and exit policies are enforced. The Door Guard will also assist in the apprehension of shoplifters when necessary, contributing to the overall safety and security of the store environment. The role is not only about monitoring but also about fostering a welcoming atmosphere for customers while maintaining strict adherence to security protocols. The Door Guard will report directly to the Operations Manager, except in cases of theft, where they will report to Loss Prevention Management. This position is essential for upholding the integrity of the store and ensuring a secure shopping experience for all patrons.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service while verifying customer and employee supply receipts at the door.
• Enforce entrance and exit policies.
• Report suspicious activity (internal or external) to Loss Prevention management.
• Assist store management during opening and closing procedures.
• Assist store management during emergency situations.
• Help in the apprehension of shoplifters as necessary.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must have a guard card.
• Minimum 6 months of security experience.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, crawl, kneel, climb, and push/pull objects.
• Knowledge of the Power of Arrest and detainment required.
• Valid government issued ID for police reports and court purposes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills including Excel and Word.
• Ability to speak in public.
• Teamwork oriented with a dynamic and enthusiastic attitude.
• Open to learning and accepting changes in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in loss prevention or security beyond the minimum requirement.
• Additional certifications related to security or safety management.
