About the position

The Museum of Science strives to equip and inspire everyone to use science for the global good while keeping up with the pace of change. As one of the world's largest science centers, we engage nearly five million people a year. The position involves co-leading teams to create the overall vision for visitor experiences in exhibitions, defining goals, messages, and narrative arcs. Responsibilities include leading content development, ensuring accessibility, conducting research, and communicating effectively in writing. The role also involves mentoring interns and liaising with other departments to ensure accuracy in exhibits.

Responsibilities

  • Co-lead teams in collaboratively creating the overall vision for the visitor experience in assigned exhibitions.
  • Define goals, messages, narrative arcs, and visitor experience descriptions for exhibitions.
  • Establish appropriate educational objectives for assigned projects.
  • Lead content development for assigned projects, ensuring coherent and engaging exhibition experiences.
  • Develop visitor experiences that are universally accessible, engaging, and inspiring.
  • Conduct independent research and engage experts to develop knowledge of exhibit content and audiences.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of formative prototyping and testing of exhibit components.
  • Communicate effectively in writing, establishing tone, style, and hierarchy for content delivery.
  • Coordinate and oversee the content development work of interns or other support staff.
  • Liaison with other Museum departments on matters concerning scientific and educational content.

Requirements

  • Facility with word processing and spreadsheet software, as well as audio and video editing software.
  • Demonstrated experience developing at least 4 major educational products that integrate multiple engagement strategies.
  • Ability to accurately communicate STEM topics for a non-technical audience, orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated experience translating ideas into concrete learning experiences/environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research using various resources.
