About the position

The University of Michigan's Office of Medical Student Education is seeking a Curriculum Project Coordinator to play a pivotal role in the administration of various educational courses, including the Improving Healthcare Systems Course, the Clinical Trunk Spring Conference, and the Branches Residency Prep Courses. This position requires a highly organized individual who can effectively partner with faculty and staff directors to ensure the smooth operation of these programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, administering, and communicating the activities associated with these courses, working closely with a core team to achieve educational objectives. In this role, the Curriculum Project Coordinator will provide comprehensive administrative support, including managing schedules, facilitating team meetings, and acting as a liaison between the Office of Medical Student Education and external stakeholders. The coordinator will also assist in faculty recruitment for small group sessions, manage student assessments, and ensure that all procedures meet departmental and accreditation requirements. The position involves organizing logistics for instructional sessions, including room reservations, technology setup, and materials preparation, as well as creating and maintaining course-related content on the Canvas learning platform. The coordinator will also be responsible for tracking student attendance and assignment completion, processing expenses, and maintaining communication with faculty, staff, and students regarding course-related inquiries. This position is integral to the success of the curriculum and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to excellence in educational administration. The work environment is hybrid, allowing for a combination of in-person and remote work, with an emphasis on collaboration and communication among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and faculty support to the Improving Healthcare Systems Course.
  • Plan and implement the Scientific Trunk Health System Sciences and Leadership sessions, Leadership 360 exercise, and Branches Leadership electives.
  • Manage schedules, acting as a liaison across the Office of Medical Student Education and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with faculty small group recruitment and communicate session plans and materials to faculty members.
  • Facilitate team meetings and communication strategies.
  • Manage student assessment and grade information in the ARB software system, coordinating faculty finalization.
  • Organize and oversee room reservations, attendance, technology setup, and materials for instructional sessions.
  • Create Canvas assignments and calendar events for sessions.
  • Provide administrative and faculty support to the Clinical Trunk Phase, collaborating with faculty and Program Manager for project management support.
  • Manage logistics of scheduling, prework, and remediation, communicating with faculty and staff leads.
  • Create and maintain a master schedule, notifying students and faculty of events.
  • Track and report student attendance and assignment completion, providing and tracking remediation completion.
  • Process, maintain, and track expenses, completing purchasing and honorariums.
  • Provide administrative and faculty support to the Branches Phase, collaborating with faculty and Program Manager for project management support to assigned Residency Prep Course.
  • Manage course schedules, acting as a liaison across the Office of Medical Student Education and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage Canvas platform and DropBox resources, including calendars, assignments, and evaluations.
  • Enter data to the OASIS database, ensuring program objectives and keywords are accurately recorded.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two to four years of experience in health professions education or academic setting.
  • Polished organizational and problem-solving skills with an ability to manage competing priorities independently.
  • Adept at handling multiple needs from multiple people while meeting short- and long-term deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work with faculty, students, and staff.
  • Experience using Microsoft, Google, and other applications/learning platforms such as Canvas and DropBox.
