About the position

Aim High is seeking a multidisciplinary curriculum specialist to support the development, refinement, and implementation of its summer program's core curriculum for students and professional development for summer staff. This role is integral to enhancing the academic and enrichment summer program, ensuring high standards of excellence are met. The curriculum specialist will work closely with the VP of Teaching and Learning, revising curriculum based on feedback, developing instructional materials, and leading professional development workshops for summer faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Revise and update project-based curriculum based on staff and student feedback from the previous summer.
  • Align curriculum revisions to grade-level standards and subject areas as outlined in the Common Core State Standards.
  • Develop instructional materials including slide decks, worksheets, and guided notes to enhance lesson delivery and student engagement.
  • Utilize Aim High's project and lesson plan templates to finalize the curriculum, ensuring consistency and clarity across all learning resources.
  • Design and lead professional development workshops for summer faculty staff, both virtually and in person.
  • Create workshops aligned with culturally responsive pedagogies for teachers of varying experience levels.
  • Innovate and design training modules aligned to teacher needs while developing skills for meeting SEL needs of students.
  • Collaborate and support program evaluation and site observations during summer programming.
  • Oversee academic program implementation across sites, providing academic coaching support as needed.
  • Support academic leaders at sites during summer programming across all regions.
  • Organize and manage curriculum supplies for academic classes.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Education preferred.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • Solid problem-solving abilities and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with grade-level subject-focused standards, preferably in STEM and Mathematics.
  • At least 4-5 years of teaching experience; formal education in this space is a plus.
  • Knowledge of instructional coaching and evaluation of programming is a plus.
  • Experience writing project-based learning curriculum is a plus.
  • Experience with Common Core Standards, Mathematical Practice, SEL competencies, and Next Generation Science Standards is preferred.
  • Experience leading and designing professional development for teachers of different levels.
