The Department of Facilities Planning and Management at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking a dedicated Custodial Maintenance Technician for a second-shift position. This role is essential in providing custodial support, laundry services, equipment repair, and responding to building maintenance emergencies within the academic buildings. The Custodial Maintenance Technician will work under the guidance of the Custodial Services Supervisor and the Director of Buildings and Grounds, contributing to the development of custodial objectives that meet the needs of building occupants. Initially, the position will require working Monday to Friday from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM for a training period of 2-4 weeks. After training, the regular hours will shift to Monday to Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The role may also require occasional overtime and weekend work based on operational needs, particularly during university events. The technician must demonstrate exemplary behavior in interactions with customers and colleagues, and must possess a valid driver's license to qualify for state vehicle operation. This position may involve directing the work of custodians, temporary employees, and student workers, and is designated at a Level 1 for risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Active participation in safety training and adherence to safety regulations is mandatory. The Custodial Maintenance Technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including the repair and maintenance of custodial equipment, performing routine custodial work, managing laundry duties, and conducting basic troubleshooting and building maintenance operations. The role requires a proactive approach to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the facilities, while also maintaining good working relationships with all personnel using the buildings.
