About the position
The Supervisor of Custodial Services is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of school facilities within the Lansing Unified School District 469. This role aims to enhance the educational environment by ensuring that all buildings are kept in top condition. The supervisor will work closely with staff and administration to achieve these goals, overseeing custodial operations and managing personnel effectively.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all facilities are cleaned and well maintained.
- Develop and maintain checklists for daily, weekly, and annual cleanings throughout the district.
- Conduct routine custodial and sanitation inspections of assigned schools.
- Respond to emergencies to assist in clean-up of school centers as needed.
- Evaluate new or existing custodial programs, chemicals, and equipment.
- Provide training and assistance to custodians in cleaning techniques and equipment use.
- Monitor and support safe working practices and safety programs.
- Make recommendations for ordering custodial supplies and prepare an annual operating budget.
- Maintain an updated inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Recommend employment and evaluate custodial personnel annually.
- Conduct periodic meetings with subordinate staff to review operational and safety guidelines.
- Confer with the Director of Facilities monthly to update on custodial operations.
- Oversee the completion of custodial work orders in a timely manner.
- Stay informed about new information, ideas, and techniques in custodial services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or a minimum of five years successful experience in Custodial Management.
- Minimum three years successful experience managing people, including interviewing, scheduling, training, and evaluating custodial staff.
- Minimum three years successful experience with custodial programs, services, equipment, chemicals, and cleaning techniques.
