About the position

The Custodian 2 - Night Shift position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the UREC facilities during night hours. The role involves performing routine manual tasks to ensure the facilities are well-kept and presentable, contributing to a positive environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Cleans restrooms, offices, classrooms, stairwells, elevators, hallways, and other assigned areas, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and polishing.
• Empties trash and recycling containers, transports waste material to outdoor refuse containers or recycling containers, and cleans waste containers using proper materials.
• Operates assigned cleaning equipment such as wet/dry vacuums, carpet extractors, and floor polishers according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Shares information with department teammates to provide high-quality outcomes, maintains positive co-worker relationships, and contributes to a culture of teamwork.
• Unlocks/locks areas within the building based on assigned room and is responsible for all assigned keys.

Requirements

• Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.
• Ability to walk around a 250,000 square foot building multiple times daily and ascend/descend stairs of a 3-story building.
• Capability to stoop, kneel, and crouch to pick up litter and train employees on cleaning processes.
• Ability to move furniture weighing 20-40 pounds and transport tables & chairs weighing 60-80 pounds.
