About the position

The Custodian position at Express Employment Professionals involves performing routine custodial work in school facilities throughout West Ada County. The role is essential for maintaining cleanliness and safety in educational environments, with responsibilities that include cleaning, maintenance, and grounds keeping tasks. The position offers both part-time and full-time opportunities with varying hours, primarily during swing shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial, maintenance, cleaning, and grounds keeping tasks in assigned school buildings and grounds.
• Sweep and mop floors in various areas including restrooms, classrooms, hallways, and cafeterias.
• Vacuum carpeted floors and maintain a regular maintenance schedule for stripping, waxing, and shampooing floors.
• Dust and wipe off surfaces, including chalkboards and whiteboards.
• Clean and sanitize restroom areas, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors.
• Maintain supply levels in restrooms and clean light fixtures.
• Empty and clean trash containers and transport waste to outside receptacles.
• Wash walls, windows, and surface areas; clean spills and remove graffiti as needed.
• Maintain custodial equipment and inventory of cleaning supplies.
• Assist in moving and setting up furniture and equipment for events.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and minor plumbing repairs.
• Maintain grounds by picking up litter, mowing grass, and performing snow removal duties.
• Lock and unlock buildings to maintain security and prevent vandalism.

Requirements

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and observe department policies and procedures.
• Experience operating and maintaining powered custodial equipment such as vacuums and buffers.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other employees.
• Basic math skills at the 6th grade level.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a custodial or maintenance role in a school or similar environment.
