About the position

The Custodian II position at YMCA of the North is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in assigned areas, ensuring a welcoming environment for members and staff. The role involves performing various janitorial duties with minimal supervision, interacting positively with members, and adhering to the YMCA's core values of honesty, responsibility, caring, equity, and respect.

Responsibilities

• Complete all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintain daily upkeep of assigned area and equipment.
• Perform janitorial duties including wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, meeting set up, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, and seasonal activities like lawn care and snow removal.
• Record all needed repairs, report them to the supervisor, and follow up with staff.
• Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during the shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
• Clean up blood or body fluids which could contain bloodborne pathogens.
• Operate motorized equipment used for cleaning.

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing if needed.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment.
• Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
• Willingness to learn and share new and better methods of cleaning.
