About the position

The Lead Custodian is responsible for routine cleaning and supervising the cleaning of all areas of the building while monitoring the grounds. This role acts as a liaison between management and custodial staff, ensuring proper cleaning standards and procedures are followed. The Lead Custodian also provides leadership and training to custodial personnel, coordinates cleaning schedules, and maintains communication with store/site management.

Responsibilities

• Helps in the selection, assignment, scheduling, and training of custodial staff.
• Provides leadership to the custodial staff on a daily basis.
• Acts as the primary contact for store/site management, meeting regularly with them.
• Plans and oversees all custodial work, maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
• Coordinates cleaning plans and schedules for custodial personnel.
• Inspects the performance of custodial staff according to service agreements and company guidelines.
• Maintains an inventory of custodial supplies and recommends suitable selections.
• Locks and unlocks doors and manages the alarm system.
• Sweeps, mops, waxes floors, and operates buffing machines.
• Vacuums and cleans carpeting, washes windows, and polishes furniture.
• Cleans restrooms and performs other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in custodial, janitorial, or cleaning services.
• Ability to understand and read English.
• Physical ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
• Experience in using small power tools.
