The Custodian performs assigned custodial tasks as it relates to that particular job location. This includes general cleaning of restrooms, offices, cafeterias, sales floors, and other areas as assigned. The role requires buffing, scrubbing, and the ability to perform basic tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and using equipment like scrubbers, extractors, and buffers. The custodian is expected to follow all safety guidelines and company policies while performing their duties. Expectations for satisfactory job performance include performing all general required tasks as directed by the Lead Custodian or Supervisor, using floor machines for buffing, stripping, waxing, vacuuming, and carpet cleaning safely, and adhering to the company schedule. The custodian must wear a uniform at required worksites and perform janitorial tasks based on the defined scope of work and customer requests. These tasks often include emptying wastebaskets, dusting and cleaning office furniture, vacuuming carpets, cleaning and sanitizing toilets, and maintaining cleanliness in various areas. The position may require working nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. The custodian must follow oral and written instructions, work effectively both individually and as part of a team, and attend periodic training and safety meetings. The role requires physical exertion, including the ability to lift and carry heavy objects, and involves repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, and reaching. The custodian must also be able to operate small power tools and maintain janitorial equipment in a clean and safe condition.
