A Lead Custodian is responsible for routine cleaning and supervising the routine cleaning of all areas of the building while monitoring the grounds. This position assumes increased responsibility and typically acts as the liaison or intermediary between Managers or Supervisors and the custodial staff. The Lead Custodian serves as the primary contact at a location for both staff and customers, ensuring that all cleaning tasks are performed to the highest standards. This role involves supervising and instructing custodial personnel in the proper procedures and cleaning standards set by both the customer and the company. The Lead Custodian may work nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the flexible nature of the job. In addition to cleaning duties, the Lead Custodian helps in the selection, assignment, scheduling, and training of custodial staff members. They provide daily leadership to the custodial team and maintain ongoing communication with store/site management, acting as the primary contact for the store/site by meeting regularly with them. The Lead Custodian plans and oversees all custodial work, ensuring a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. They coordinate cleaning plans and schedules for custodial personnel and inspect their performance on an ongoing basis, as agreed upon in the service agreement with the customer and according to Prestige Maintenance USA's guidelines. The role also includes maintaining an inventory of custodial supplies and recommending suitable selections. The Lead Custodian is responsible for locking and unlocking doors, activating and deactivating alarm systems, and performing various cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, vacuuming carpets, washing windows, and cleaning restrooms. This position may also require physical exertion, including the ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds, and involves repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, and reaching. The Lead Custodian must be able to work independently and in stressful environments, with regular, consistent, and predictable attendance being essential.
