About the position

The Custodian - Temporary Disaster Recovery Support Position involves recovery and restoration tasks in an office setting following damage caused by hurricanes. The role is focused on disaster recovery efforts and is specific to the CareerSource North Florida National Dislocated Worker Grant.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms and dressing rooms including all fixtures, faucets, drainpipes, mirrors, commodes, sinks, urinals, windowsills, ledges, air vents, floors, and walls daily.
  • Clean windows, window ledges, furniture, and equipment in all assigned areas daily.
  • Sweep or vacuum and mop hard surfaces of assigned rooms and corridors daily.
  • Vacuum and spot clean assigned carpeted rooms and hallways daily.
  • Empty and clean trash cans in all assigned areas daily.
  • Assist in maintaining the inventory of custodial supplies, tools, and materials for use in the facility.
  • Assist in the supervision of the physical security of the facility as required.
  • Provide emergency clean-up for spills and mishaps throughout the facility.
  • Inspect building lighting fixtures daily.
  • Assist in the operation of the facility HVAC system as required.
  • Assist in setting up facilities for meetings and workshops as required.
  • Perform minor maintenance repairs as assigned.
  • Participate in casualty prevention tests and inspections as required.
  • Patrol facility and grounds to pick up and prevent the accumulation of litter daily.
  • Assist with grounds maintenance as required.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and administration.
  • Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
  • Provide for a safe and secure workplace.
  • Model and maintain high ethical standards.
  • Follow attendance, punctuality, and proper dress rules.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
  • Maintain positive relationships with staff and vendors.
  • Participate in workshops and training sessions as required.
  • Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
  • Follow all School Board policies and school policies and procedures.
  • Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
  • Demonstrate support for the organization's goals and priorities.
  • Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in custodial work or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must be in good physical health.
  • Proficient in the use of custodial equipment and cleaning chemicals.
  • Possess knowledge of OSHA standards relating to assignment.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assume assigned responsibilities and work harmoniously with others.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
