About the position

The Custodian Worker position at Covert Public Schools involves maintaining cleanliness and order in school facilities. The role requires performing various custodial tasks, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff. The position is full-time with an afternoon shift, and may require weekend work as needed.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop floors, vacuum rugs, and spot clean carpets as needed.
• Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, windows, doors, trim, and other surfaces.
• Collect, bag, and dispose of trash.
• Clean bathrooms including toilets, sinks, floors, and walls.
• Replenish paper towels, hand soap, and toilet paper in bathrooms and classrooms.
• Close all building classroom, entrance, and exit doors as assigned, ensuring that all windows and door latches, locks, and panic bars are secure and lights are off in unoccupied areas.
• Follow safe work practices for chemical and equipment operation, storage, and handling.
• Perform designated daily, weekly, and project cleaning processes in all assigned areas.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of custodial experience preferred.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, and use a personnel man-lift.
• Ability to work independently and be trustworthy and dependable.
• Acceptable attendance record and good punctuality.
• Ability to communicate in English preferred.
