About the position

The Lead Custodian is responsible for overseeing routine cleaning and maintenance of all areas within a facility, acting as a liaison between management and custodial staff. This role includes supervising cleaning personnel, ensuring adherence to safety and cleanliness standards, and maintaining effective communication with site management. The position may require working during nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and instruct custodial personnel in proper cleaning procedures and standards.
• Assist in the selection, assignment, scheduling, and training of custodial staff.
• Provide daily leadership to the custodial team.
• Communicate regularly with store/site management and act as the primary contact.
• Plan and oversee all custodial work to maintain safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
• Coordinate cleaning plans and schedules for custodial staff.
• Inspect custodial staff performance according to service agreements and company guidelines.
• Maintain inventory and recommend suitable custodial supplies.
• Lock and unlock doors and manage alarm systems.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, and cleaning carpets and windows.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in custodial, janitorial, or cleaning services.
• Ability to understand and read English.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, push, or pull heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
• Experience in using small power tools and cleaning equipment.
