About the position

The Custodian position at the YMCA of Greater Kansas City involves performing janitorial duties in assigned areas, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation to create a welcoming environment for all members. Responsibilities

• Complete daily housekeeping and sanitizing work schedule in all assigned areas.
• Perform floor care and cleaning, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing stairs and baseboards.
• Clean windows and window/door frameworks.
• Conduct ceiling care, including vent cleaning and light fixture repair/replacement.
• Sanitize restrooms and locker rooms, including showers, toilets, sinks, and changing rooms.
• Conduct spot inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
• Remove trash and recyclables from assigned areas.
• Maintain and clean grounds, parking lots, and sidewalks, including snow removal and ice-melt application.
• Assist with setup and cleanup for special events, including moving chairs and tables.
• Ensure adequate cleaning supplies are available for use.
• Comply with all OSHA work regulations.
• Assist with cleaning wellness equipment as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18.
• Experience in custodial work or equivalent training and experience.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to meet tight time constraints and organize tasks to meet deadlines.
