About the position

The Custodian at Newport Mental Health is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for staff and patients. This role involves performing various cleaning and maintenance tasks, ensuring that facilities are well-kept and operational. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Painting and maintaining the facilities.
  • Responding to basic facility work requests submitted via the ticketing system.
  • Using cleaning supplies and equipment to keep the interior of the office clean and professional.
  • Restocking items and assisting with supplies management at all sites.
  • Performing basic maintenance work and minor repairs.
  • Confirming that grounds are clear and safe for staff and patients.
  • Undertaking occasional seasonal tasks, such as shoveling snow from walkways.
  • Adhering to the company's safety policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Proven experience in maintenance or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
  • Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.
  • Detail-oriented and conscientious.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • A valid Rhode Island Driver's License is required.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
