Custodian

About the position

The Maintenance Custodian is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in buildings, performing heavy cleaning duties, and conducting routine maintenance activities. This role involves ensuring that facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained, while also reporting any necessary repairs to management.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors.
• Spot clean carpets, rugs, and runners as needed.
• Clean and service restrooms, including sanitizing fixtures and replenishing supplies.
• Dust all furniture and horizontal surfaces.
• Clean and sanitize drinking fountains.
• Wash windows and clean doors, frames, and partitions.
• Disinfect telephones and clean kitchen and break areas.
• Empty trash receptacles and remove waste to collection areas.
• Perform maintenance tasks such as replacing damaged ceiling tiles and painting.
• Unclog toilets and clean areas if back-up occurs.
• Strip, buff, and wax floors.
• Perform ground maintenance including snow removal and salting.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 1+ years of experience in a maintenance role preferred
• Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of janitorial service
• Ability to follow instructions and operate janitorial tools and equipment
• Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Outlook and maintenance ticketing software
• Valid driver's license and personal vehicle insurance meeting specified limits.
