About the position

The Custodian position at the Atchison Family YMCA involves performing janitorial duties to maintain cleanliness and sanitation in assigned areas. Responsibilities

• Complete daily housekeeping and sanitizing work schedule in all assigned areas.
• Perform floor care and cleaning, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing stairs and baseboards.
• Clean windows and window/door frameworks.
• Conduct ceiling care, including vent cleaning and light fixture repair/replacement.
• Sanitize restrooms and locker rooms, including showers, toilets, sinks, and changing rooms.
• Conduct spot inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
• Remove trash and recyclables from assigned areas.
• Maintain and clean grounds, parking lots, and sidewalks, including snow removal and ice-melt application.
• Assist with setup and cleanup for special events, including lifting chairs and tables.
• Ensure adequate cleaning supplies are available for use.
• Comply with all OSHA work regulations.
• Assist with cleaning wellness equipment as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18.
• Experience in custodial work or equivalent training and experience.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
• Demonstrated attention to detail despite frequent interruptions.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and organize tasks efficiently.
