About the position
The position involves loading and custom applying crop protection products and fertilizers under the direction of the Plant Manager/Crops Specialist. The role includes maintaining and repairing facility buildings and equipment, completing necessary paperwork, and operating plant equipment. The individual will also assist with inventory management and customer service, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies.
Responsibilities
- Loads and applies crop protection inputs to customer's fields according to recommended rates and procedures.
- Completes spray/application logs and notes any problems or concerns during the application process.
- Performs routine maintenance on all facility equipment to maximize reliability and service life.
- Maintains the location, buildings, equipment, and property to enhance company image.
- Delivers products to customers and assists walk-in customers as required.
- Adheres to environmental, health, training, and safety policies to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Maintains a professional image by adhering to the uniform policy.
- Assists with crop scouting as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous applicator or related experience and/or training to custom apply fertilizers and crop protection products.
- Proven professional communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to keep sensitive customer, business, and employee information confidential.
- Demonstrated time management and basic math skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Understanding of basic computer skills related to custom application business.
- Demonstrated core competencies including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development.
- Must have or the ability to obtain a CDL with proper endorsements and commercial operator's license from the Department of Agriculture.
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug test.
