About the position

The Custom Coil Winding and Transformer Team Leader at Dufrane Technologies LLC is responsible for leading the custom coils business unit, overseeing the winding and assembly of transformers, and ensuring production goals are met. This role combines technical expertise in coil winding and transformer assembly with leadership skills to manage and motivate a production team. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of a niche company in the electromagnetic coils and transformers market.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately wind coils onto cores and bobbins using winding machines, following specified wire gauge, turns, and insulation requirements.
  • Inspect coils for defects such as misalignment, damaged insulation, or loose windings.
  • Offer suggestions for improvement in machines, techniques, and processes.
  • Oversee the production team to achieve on-time and within budget production goals for coil winding and transformer assembly.
  • Assemble small, custom single through 3-Phase Transformers.
  • Manage and motivate production assembly personnel.
  • Participate with the proposal team to send out timely and accurate proposals to customers.
  • Collaborate with the design team to provide valuable input into proposed coil and transformer designs.
  • Work with the purchasing team to procure the right materials for production.
  • Recommend investments in new machines and options to improve capabilities and productivity.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in coil winding and transformer assembly.
  • 1-2 years of effective operations team leadership experience in the same field.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience operating various coil winding machines and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of different types of wire insulation and materials used in transformer and coil construction.

Nice-to-haves

  • More than 2 years of experience in coil winding and transformer assembly.
  • Fundamental knowledge of suppliers for related materials (coil and transformer materials suppliers).
