About the position

The position involves assisting Customer Accounting Specialists and the Manager of Billing & Collections in managing and resolving billing and collections issues for delinquent accounts. The role requires effective communication and organizational skills to handle various tasks related to payment processing, collections, and customer service under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Answer direct bill phone line
  • Apply payments received via mail to direct bill account
  • Assist Customer Accounting Specialists in matters of payment reconciliation
  • Assist Customer Specialist in collections when necessary
  • Contact accounts via phone and mail and send accounts to collections agencies if needed
  • Sort daily output for Customer Accounting Specialists
  • Prepare forms for mail room after Customer Accounting Specialist review
  • Monitor the premium accounting inbox and respond to requests as needed
  • Assist with commission payments
  • Assist Customer Accounting Specialists with Accounts Payable batches, copying, scanning, mail runs, treasury runs, and other miscellaneous tasks
  • Assist with miscellaneous tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a high school diploma
  • 0+ years of related experience or equivalent level of education and experience
  • Ability to research simple to moderately complex billing and collection issues and recommend appropriate actions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external contacts involved in the billing and collection processes
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software as well as general ledger and billing and collections applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service or accounting roles
