About the position
The Customer Accounts Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the utility customer accounts functions for the City of Albemarle. This role involves managing customer inquiries, handling difficult customer issues, and ensuring the accuracy of account maintenance. The supervisor will also be involved in training staff, modernizing processes, and coordinating with other departments to enhance service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and manages customer accounts, addressing unusual situations and managing delinquent account collections.
- Handles customer complaints and inquiries in person and by phone, researching problems and providing solutions.
- Reviews account comments, reconnect fees, deposits, and overdue accounts daily.
- Oversees delinquent account reports and transactions within the department.
- Maintains relationships with major accounts and monitors usage trends.
- Recommends policies and procedures for efficient departmental operations.
- Participates in IT upgrades and staff training to improve efficiency.
- Researches and prepares special reports for management regarding utilities and other issues.
- Schedules technicians for energy audits and follows up with billing.
Requirements
- Graduation from a community college with an Associate's Degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
- Considerable experience in a billing and customer service operation involving heavy public contact and technology use.
- Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
