About the position

As a Customer and Partner Solutions Engineer within the Digitization Services team at gTech, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing user experiences and engagement with Google products. Your primary responsibilities will include designing, implementing, testing, and launching internal tools that support gTech's Digitization Services. This involves maintaining existing tools and hardware infrastructure used in Book Scanning Operations, collaborating closely with regional technicians to ensure smooth operations. You will also be tasked with developing internal databases, reports, and tools that facilitate operational efficiency and support various projects beyond book scanning. In this role, you will analyze work processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation, thereby contributing to the overall improvement of service delivery. You will work alongside a global team of Support Engineers, software developers, and operations staff, ensuring that the solutions you develop are scalable and meet the complex needs of our customers. Your efforts will directly support Google's mission to provide exceptional customer and product experiences, advocating for users through partnerships with various product areas within Google and Alphabet businesses. The Digitization Services team is responsible for digitizing content for various Google platforms, including Google Book Search, Google Arts and Culture, YouTube, Google Cloud, and Google Hardware teams. This work is crucial for bringing information to users and supporting the development of Machine Learning initiatives. As part of gTech, you will be a trusted advisor, leveraging your technical skills and product expertise to deliver bespoke solutions that maximize the potential of Google products for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and launch internal tools for gTech Digitization Services.
  • Maintain existing tools and hardware infrastructure in Book Scanning Operations and collaborate with the regional technicians team.
  • Develop internal databases, reports, and tools to support operations.
  • Analyze work processes to determine inefficiencies and opportunities for automation.
  • Collaborate with a global team of Support Engineers, software developers, and operations staff to support a wide range of projects beyond book scanning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience coding with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python).
  • Experience working with client-side web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or HTTP).
  • Experience in technical troubleshooting, and managing internal/external partners or customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience working with database technologies and data analytics (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • 2 years of experience in Linux/Unix, networking, and electronics.
  • 2 years of experience delivering technical solutions to business problems in a semi-autonomous work environment.
