About the position

As a Customer Applications Engineer specializing in Multi-Core Technologies for Aerospace at GE Aerospace, you will play a pivotal role in advancing aerospace technology through your expertise in computer processor architectures. This position is based in our Grand Rapids facility, where we have been producing high-quality electronics and avionics parts for over 15 years. Your work will involve collaborating with a diverse team to support various IRAD (Internal Research and Development) efforts and program support initiatives, focusing on multicore processing, operating systems, software, and certification processes. In this role, you will be responsible for defining certifiable approaches to multicore enabled systems, engaging in processor trades, and providing support for various IRADs, including the IMA Demonstrator. You will collaborate with program teams to understand their needs and contribute to the development of a processor roadmap by engaging with suppliers to stay abreast of industry trends and key features. Your long-term coordination efforts will ensure that processor selection and use case plans for multicore certification are effectively implemented in adopting programs. Additionally, you will contribute technically by writing white papers, supporting relevant committees, and providing general applications engineering support. This position requires a strong educational background, extensive experience in embedded computing, and a willingness to travel as needed. You will be part of a team that is dedicated to the future of safe and sustainable flight, working on innovative projects that push the boundaries of aerospace technology.

Responsibilities

  • Define certifiable approaches to multicore enabled systems for IRAD efforts.
  • Support various IRADs such as the IMA Demonstrator.
  • Collaborate with program teams to understand their needs and provide support.
  • Engage with processor suppliers to understand industry trends and contribute to the processor roadmap.
  • Provide multi-year support for processor selection and multicore certification in adopting programs.
  • Write white papers and support relevant committees in the field of applications engineering.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Architecture, Computer Science, or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • At least 10 years of experience in Embedded Computing, Software, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent capacity.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong knowledge of computer architectures and multi-core processors.
  • Proficiency in real-time embedded systems and configurations.
  • Familiarity with Avionics standards such as DO-178C, DO-254, and CAST-32A.
  • Experience with civil/military certification processes.
