About the position

The Customer Care Rep II position at Boston Scientific involves working within the Cardiac Diagnostic revenue cycle team to manage prior authorizations for cardiac diagnostic services. This role requires effective communication with insurance companies and patients to ensure timely processing of claims and authorizations, contributing to the overall efficiency of the healthcare service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient insurance coverage using phone or online resources.
  • Complete a high volume of authorizations in a timely manner via payer-specific portals and vendors.
  • Ensure all pertinent medical documentation is accurate and present prior to authorization submission.
  • Follow up with pending authorizations regularly to obtain status or necessary actions for approval.
  • Exhibit outstanding phone communication skills.
  • Participate in educational activities and attend regular staff and department meetings.
  • Manage excellent turnaround time to ensure timely authorizations.
  • Work cooperatively with team members and management.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to perform duties as needed based on volume.
  • Collaborate with other departments to assist in obtaining pre-authorizations.
  • Document activities appropriately in process notes.
  • Maintain a strong work ethic and commitment to improving patients' lives.
  • Comply with all company and department policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in prior authorization, medical billing, health insurance, or collections.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent customer service and phone skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational, communication, multitasking, and teamwork skills.
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
  • Ability to navigate multiple systems including billing software and payer portals.
  • Experience using Microsoft applications (Dynamics 360, Outlook, Teams, and Xifin) preferred.
