Customer Data Science Backend Developer

About the position

Dillard's is seeking a backend developer with an interest in data analysis and machine learning to join our team. For this role, you will use Python, Kornshell, JavaScript, and SQL for developing and maintaining applications. To be successful, you should be a life-long learner who enjoys acquiring knowledge of new technologies and striving for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop a basic understanding of querying data in EDW within the first month.
• Develop a basic understanding of the customer data mart within the first month.
• Develop a basic understanding of our software stack within the first month.
• Develop a basic understanding of our Python scripts and how to troubleshoot them within the first month.
• Complete a customer analysis independently within the second month.
• Develop a basic support of weekly smart emails within the second month.
• Contribute ideas for new models/projects within the second month.
• Work independently in the data warehouse and AI environment within the third month.
• Independently research, optimize, and maintain code within the third month.

Requirements

• Coding experience in Python
• Strong SQL skills, with a desire to become a SQL expert
• Experience with large datasets and data processing
• Strong self-motivation to learn new technologies
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
• Ability to adapt to change

• Modeling experience
• Teradata experience
• Experience with machine learning algorithms or statistical modeling
