About the position

The Customer Engineer role at Google Cloud Platform involves working closely with Technical Sales teams to provide machine learning expertise and support to customers. This position is crucial in helping customers understand the capabilities of Google Cloud, particularly in machine learning and cloud-native architectures. The role focuses on identifying customer needs, resolving technical challenges, and demonstrating the integration of Google Cloud products in various environments.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify business opportunities with customers.
  • Understand key customer technical objections and develop strategies to resolve technical blockers.
  • Provide machine learning expertise to support the technical relationship with customers.
  • Conduct product and solution briefings and proof-of-concept work.
  • Partner with product management to prioritize solutions that impact customer adoption of Google Cloud.
  • Demonstrate and prototype Google Cloud product integrations in customer environments.
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, and application infrastructure best practices for Google Cloud solutions.
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and related events as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with cloud native architecture, including machine learning model development and deployment, in a customer-facing or support role.
  • Experience with big data, machine learning, and numerical programming frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Python, MATLAB).
  • Experience in virtualization or cloud native architectures in a customer-facing or support role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience in building machine learning solutions and leveraging specific machine learning architectures (e.g., deep learning, LSTM, convolutional networks).
  • Experience in architecting and developing software or infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems.
  • Experience in data and information management related to big data trends and issues within businesses.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work with new emerging technologies in the cloud/IT technology space.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $122,000-$180,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
