About the position

As a Customer Engineer at Google Cloud, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating the adoption of cloud computing solutions for a diverse range of customers, including educational institutions, government agencies, and enterprises. Your primary responsibility will be to partner with technical sales teams to effectively communicate the unique advantages of Google Cloud products. You will engage with prospective and existing customers to understand their business and technical requirements, and you will develop creative cloud solutions and architectures that address their specific challenges. This role requires you to present practical and useful solutions persuasively, ensuring that customers can leverage the full potential of Google Cloud to enhance their productivity, mobility, and collaboration. In this position, you will also be responsible for problem-solving key technical issues that arise for customers, working closely with fellow sales Googlers. You will liaise with product marketing management and engineering teams to stay informed about industry trends and to contribute to enhancements of Google Cloud products. Your expertise in enterprise infrastructure modernization will be crucial as you support the technical relationship with customers, providing technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, and conducting product and solution briefings. You will guide customers through assessments of their existing legacy application environments and provide recommendations for a prioritization roadmap for infrastructure and application modernization. Responsibilities

  • Partner with technical sales teams to differentiate Google Cloud to customers.
  • Help prospective and existing customers understand the power of Google Cloud.
  • Develop creative cloud solutions and architectures to solve business challenges.
  • Engage in proofs of concepts and troubleshoot technical questions and roadblocks.
  • Understand customer business and technical requirements and present practical solutions.
  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities.
  • Share enterprise infrastructure modernization expertise to support technical relationships with customers.
  • Guide customers through assessments of existing legacy application environments and provide recommendations.
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, and application infrastructure for Google Cloud solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role.
  • Experience engaging with and presenting to technical stakeholders and executive leaders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud or on-premises infrastructure engineering.
  • Experience in migrating applications and services to cloud platforms.
  • Experience with virtualization or containerization platforms.
  • Experience with security concepts such as encryption, identity management, access control, attack vectors, and pen testing.
  • Experience with networking concepts such as software-defined networking, routing, virtual private networks, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Experience prospecting, building, and maintaining customer relationships from scratch.
