About the position

As a Customer Experience Teller at the Exchange, you will play a crucial role in supporting staff with cash handling and sales operations. This position requires a driven individual with a keen attention to detail and a passion for working with numbers. Your primary responsibilities will include issuing change funds, preparing deposits, and performing various accounting and administrative tasks. Additionally, you may be tasked with issuing fishing and hunting licenses, managing layaways, and processing refunds. It is essential to adhere to strict controls, making meticulousness and the ability to focus on single tasks vital traits for the ideal candidate. You will be expected to provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers, ensuring that every interaction is positive and engaging. In this role, you will greet every customer warmly, making eye contact and smiling authentically. Acknowledging waiting customers promptly is crucial, as is listening to their needs and asking appropriate follow-up questions to offer suitable products. Completing transactions accurately and efficiently while engaging customers in meaningful conversation is a key aspect of the job. Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level customer service and guidance to associates, ensuring their needs are prioritized.
  • Operate a cash register or other sales-related equipment to perform daily tasks accurately.
  • Verify and accept multiple forms of payment, ensuring zero variance in cash handling.
  • Maintain accountability for all assigned money, including issuing change funds and preparing bank deposits.
  • Process daily cash receipts, Western Union transactions, and manage petty cash funds.
  • Communicate and promote the benefits of the Military Star credit card and other corporate programs to customers.
  • Ensure compliance with fire, safety, sanitation, and security regulations, safeguarding cash and inventory.
  • Perform routine administrative clerical duties such as processing layaways and issuing licenses as needed.
  • Engage with customers to build trust and deliver a personalized shopping experience.

Requirements

  • Cash handling, accounting, and/or bookkeeping experience is required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow strict controls.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, outgoing demeanor.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to operate standard accounting machines.
  • Willingness to cross-train and work in other areas of the store as needed.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service roles, particularly in retail environments.
  • Knowledge of the Military Star credit card and related programs.
