About the position

The Customer Service Associate I is a business-to-business role focused on resolving inquiries and issues related to processing for assigned clients. The position emphasizes timely responses and maintaining high customer satisfaction levels while independently analyzing issues and communicating effectively with clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Independently analyze issues and processes, communicating clearly to routine questions and processing issues according to company standards.
  • Research and analyze payment history, contacting vendors or customers to resolve exceptions and make timely payment decisions.
  • Act as a positive representative of the company, focusing on customer needs and developing strong customer relationships.
  • Keep management informed of significant issues that may threaten account relationships in a timely manner.
  • Suggest changes or enhancements to existing procedures to improve client service and internal processes.
  • Coordinate file maintenance and client validation updates with other internal departments.
  • Seek guidance on significant non-routine issues from appropriate resources.
  • Document and report errors made by other Utility departments.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Good interpersonal skills to maximize client responsiveness and develop solid working relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment such as fax machines, copy machines, and telephones.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • College-level coursework in general or business administration or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 6 months of customer service experience in a general business environment or equivalent experience.
