About the position

As a Customer Service Associate at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with customers and patients, greeting them warmly and offering assistance with products and services. You will be expected to resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience, embodying the best practices of customer service. This includes demonstrating interpersonal habits such as maintaining eye contact, being courteous, and proactively offering help. You will also model Walgreens service traits, which focus on identifying customer needs and ensuring satisfaction throughout their shopping experience. In addition to customer engagement, you will be responsible for operational tasks that support the store's efficiency. This includes registering sales on the assigned cash register, providing fast and friendly checkout service, and handling cash transactions accurately. You will recommend items for sale, assist with inventory management, and ensure that the store is clean and well-merchandised. Compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products is essential, as is the implementation of company asset protection procedures to minimize profit loss. You will also assist in maintaining displays and ensuring proper product placement according to company policies. Your role will also involve training and personal development, as you will be expected to attend training sessions and complete any required personal performance logs (PPLs) as requested by your manager or corporate. This position is part-time and may require flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the store and its customers.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service to customers.
  • Recommend items for sale and suggest trade-up or companion items.
  • Register customer purchases on the cash register and handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of counters and shelves, taking inventory as required.
  • Check in and price merchandise as directed by the store manager or shift leader.
  • Implement company asset protection procedures to minimize profit loss.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
  • Construct and maintain promotional displays and complete resets as directed.
  • Assist with food item separation and stock rotation using FIFO method.
  • Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services.
  • Monitor web pick-up orders and deliver them to customers as they arrive.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly store appearance.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six months of experience in a retail environment is preferred.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens is preferred.
