About the position

As a Customer Service Associate at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with customers and patients, greeting them warmly and offering assistance with products and services. You will be expected to resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive shopping experience. This position requires you to model and share customer service best practices with your team members, emphasizing interpersonal habits such as greeting, maintaining eye contact, and demonstrating courtesy. You will also embody Walgreens service traits, which include proactively offering help, identifying customer needs, and ensuring satisfaction throughout the service process. In addition to customer engagement, you will be responsible for operational tasks that include registering sales on the assigned cash register, providing efficient checkout service, and handling cash transactions. You will recommend items for sale to customers, process returns, refunds, and exchanges, and maintain a clean and well-merchandised store environment. Your role will also involve checking in and pricing merchandise, implementing asset protection procedures to minimize profit loss, and ensuring compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products. You will assist in constructing and maintaining displays, completing resets and revisions as directed, and ensuring proper stock rotation for consumable items. Additionally, you will provide customer service in the photo area, assist with web pick-up responsibilities, and help maintain the store's interior and exterior appearance. This position requires compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as maintaining respectful relationships with coworkers. You will also be expected to attend training sessions and complete personal development tasks as assigned by your manager or corporate. This is a temporary position that requires flexibility in scheduling, including the willingness to work evenings and weekends. The ideal candidate will have a strong customer service orientation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Register sales on assigned cash register and provide efficient checkout service.
  • Recommend items for sale to customers and suggest trade-up or companion items.
  • Process cash transactions, including voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of counters and shelves, and take inventory as needed.
  • Check in and price merchandise as required by the store manager or shift leader.
  • Implement company asset protection procedures to minimize profit loss.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
  • Construct and maintain promotional displays and seasonal merchandise.
  • Assist with stock rotation and restocking of consumable items using FIFO method.
  • Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services.
  • Monitor web pick-up orders and deliver items to customers as they arrive at the store.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly store condition and appearance.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
