About the position

As a Customer Service Associate at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with customers and patients, greeting them warmly and offering assistance with products and services. You will be expected to resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience, embodying the best practices of customer service. This includes demonstrating interpersonal habits such as maintaining eye contact, courtesy, and proactive assistance, as well as adhering to Walgreens service traits like identifying customer needs and ensuring satisfaction. In addition to customer engagement, you will be responsible for operational tasks that include registering sales on the assigned cash register, providing efficient checkout service, and handling cash transactions. You will recommend items for sale, process returns and exchanges, and maintain a clean and well-merchandised store environment. Your role will also involve checking in merchandise, implementing asset protection procedures, and ensuring compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products. You will assist in constructing displays and maintaining product placement according to company policies. Furthermore, you will provide customer service in the photo area, assist with web pick-up responsibilities, and help maintain the store's interior and exterior appearance. Training and personal development are also key components of this position, as you will be required to attend training sessions and complete any necessary personal performance logs (PPLs) as requested by your manager or corporate. This position requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the store and its customers.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Register sales on assigned cash register and provide efficient checkout service.
  • Recommend items for sale to customers and suggest trade-up and/or companion items.
  • Process cash transactions, including voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of counters and shelves, taking inventory and maintaining records.
  • Check in and price merchandise as required or directed by the store manager or shift leader.
  • Implement company asset protection procedures to minimize profit loss.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
  • Construct and maintain displays, including promotional and seasonal merchandise.
  • Assist with stock rotation and restocking consumable items using the first in, first out method.
  • Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services and promotional photo products.
  • Monitor web pick-up orders and fill them as they arrive at the store.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly store condition and appearance.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
